DENTAL LABORATORY
After leaving school I was offered a job in a local dental laboratory by my father’s friend. This kick started my career in dentistry, I qualified as a dental technician and within a few years, set up my own dental lab. Over the course of the next 24 years the laboratory grew into the biggest privately owned laboratory in the UK, with over 130 team members. We won the “Laboratory of the Year” award and I also won the “Dental Technician of the Year” award. I recently sold the laboratory to focus my career on treating patients as a clinical dental technician.
HAND CRAFTED DENTURES
During my time as a lab owner I worked with over 1000 dentists and I witnessed them changing the lives of patients. This inspired me to train as a clinical dental technician at the University of Central Lancashire so that I could do the same. I focus my working week on helping patients that have problems with their dentures and hand-crafting bespoke, natural-looking dentures. I live and breathe by the motto “never manufacture or fit an appliance that you would not have in your own mouth.”
PATIENT SATISFACTION
The most rewarding part of my job is when I work alongside an implant dentist to provide patients with either implanted-secured dentures or same day teeth. The differences that I see is a transformed confidence and a new outlook on life. Patients regain the ability to eat the foods they love again, smile, laugh, socialise and often pose in front of a camera!
